Surprises, San Antonio and Slight Hangry moment

Published on 19 May 2025 at 19:47

Another weekend, another surprise. It started with the classic “Just pack a bag like you did the other time.” No details. No clues. Just vibes. Now, if you know me, you know I’m not the type to just go with the flow without a plan, but love has a funny way of making you do the absolute most and enjoy it too.

So, the mister shows up just before nightfall, and off we go! Turns out our destination was San Antonio.

Along the way, we made a pit stop at the legendary Buc-ee’s (πŸ™„ yes, THAT oversized gas station he kept raving about). I didn’t quite understand the hype until I stepped in, it was a whole universe of its own.

Texas people, una dey try!

The drive was long but surprisingly fun. I connected my phone and threw on some solid Naija jamz. Watching Mr bop his head and catch the rhythm of Afrobeats made my heart smile. That man might just have a little Nigerian in him somewhere! πŸ˜‚

I'd definitely share my "Roadtrip" Play list on here, so you can check in later.

By the time we arrived and got settled in, I was already dreaming of the adventures Saturday would bring.

And oh, Saturday morning?

Pure bliss. If you’re a hopeless romantic like me, then you’ll understand when I say pillow talk and long cuddles are an elite love language. We eventually got up and made our way to explore the San Antonio River Walk, a charming, scenic blend of nature, culture, and laughter.

The San Antonio River Walk is a stunning urban oasis nestled in the heart of downtown San Antonio, Texas. Lined with lush greenery, charming stone bridges, and vibrant cafes, this scenic waterway winds through the city like a hidden gem. Whether you’re taking a peaceful stroll, enjoying a boat ride, or dining riverside under twinkling lights (except that it was so hot that day), the River Walk offers a perfect blend of culture, history, and romance. It’s definitely a must see if you ever find yourself in San Antonio!

In the spirit of spoiling me (and the kids, of course), Mr decided to treat us to something special.

I won’t spill all the tea, but let’s just say it was a thoughtful little indulgence that will definitely spice up his space. Ahem. πŸ˜‰

We walked, talked, laughed, and soaked up every moment together. I was already worn out by evening, but we had a Murder Mystery Dinner planned, and I wasn’t about to flake. Except… dinner was a hot mess.

I’m talking bland, unseasoned, possibly jail worthy meals. I tried to keep it cute, but hunger turned me into a whole gremlin. I couldn’t even pretend to be polite. Gremlin mode: activated. πŸ˜…

Lets rephrase, the food wasn't bad at all, just what i wasn't used to as I watched everyone dive deep into their meals, I am learning to accommodate other meals... The gag is eat it!!!

I eventually found real food from our hotel and guess who waited to bring it up for me? I had a long hot shower, and crashed hard. Meanwhile, Mr thought I was mad at him. Poor guy. I reassured him later, but hey, this is the part of relationships where we learn how to handle each other’s “hangry” moments and still come out smiling.

In all, it was another memorable weekend, filled with love, laughter, some minor chaos, and major bonding. Looking forward to Memorial Weekend with the kids next. Let the good times keep rolling. ❀️
