Summer Vacation 101

"There’s a hundred and four days of summer vacation..."
That line from Phineas and Ferb kept playing in my head as summer kicked off—and wow, did we start it right.

From a pre-summer escape to Crystal Beach in Galveston to a dream trip to Orlando, it’s been magic. I’ve always known I’d make it to Disney World one day, but I never imagined it would happen this soon. Orlando truly is a beautiful place, wide roads, massive trucks rolling by, and the kind of energy that makes you feel like anything is possible.

One of the funniest moments happened during a conversation with Mr. B. He was talking about the kind of car he’d love to get me, he mentioned a Porsche Macan (of course, champagne taste, right?). I just laughed and told him to get me a Suburban instead, because with all four of our kids, I’d rather have the space! We laughed about it, but deep down, those little moments of imagining a future together mean the world.

Anyway, back to our trip...

Everyone was buzzing with excitement, fully pumped for the adventure that lay ahead. Our first official day kicked off just right, Mimosas for me (of course), and breakfast for the kids. Mr. B was a total lifesaver in the kitchen, he makes everything feel so easy, and honestly, it’s one of the things I adore about him.

With breakfast done and the kids already splashing around in the pool, curiosity kicked in “What’s next?” they kept asking. The original plan was to explore both Universal and Disney, but we ended up choosing Disney—and we’re so glad we did.

Every single day felt like stepping into a storybook.

The fireworks, the dazzling light shows, the enchanting Disney princesses and princes dancing, it was pure magic. One of my girls had her very first encounter with Elsa and Anna; she was absolutely stunned with excitement. Meanwhile, another had a mini meltdown during the fireworks—too loud for her little ears, poor thing. It was a beautiful mix of joy and drama, and that’s what made it so memorable.

The adventures inside the parks were truly out of this world. Every day brought something new— laughter, surprises, and a little chaos (the good kind).

There was that one day we got absolutely soaked, like head-to-toe drenched. At first, it was a shock, but we ended up laughing so hard and just embracing the moment. And then there was the time we waited forever in line for a ride, hyping it up the whole time... only to finally get to the front and find out it was closed. Ugh! That sting of disappointment was real, but honestly? It was still all part of the thrill.

Because even with the unexpected twists, every single moment became a memory—one we’ll laugh about for years to come.

We stayed in a stunning rental home in a gated estate in Kissimmee, The Anime House. The boys were thrilled to pick out their own individual rooms, while the girls shared a princess-style room together. We even had an extra room set aside, just in case friends or family wanted to visit. The house had a private pool and felt like a resort in itself, our cozy escape from the thrill and chaos of the parks.

I think I’ve gotten a real taste of what it would feel like to live under the same roof with Mr. B and all the kids and honestly, it felt so right. He’s the kind of “you cook, I clean… or I cook, you clean” type of guy, and I love that balance. On top of that, he provides 100% emotionally, financially, and with his presence. Like, where in the world did I find this man? (But hey, that’s a story for another day.)

This trip opened my eyes in so many beautiful ways. I’m deeply grateful for the memories we made, for the laughs, the little hiccups, the late-night talks, and the quiet moments in between.

Disney in Orlando? Hands down, the best family trip we’ve ever had. I enjoyed every single moment of it and I’ll carry it with me forever.

cheers
