Meet My 1980s Alter Ego 💋

I uploaded a recent picture of myself and asked AI to reimagine me as an ’80s woman.

And suddenly, there she was.

The hair? BIG.

The earrings? BIGGER.

The makeup? Absolutely no intention of being subtle.

And the shoulder pads?

Baby, apparently I was ready to walk into a boardroom, take over the company, and then go dancing afterward. 😂

The AI gave me this gorgeous retro inspired look with voluminous hair, bold purple/pink makeup, oversized gold earrings, a vibrant teal blazer and that unmistakable ’80s attitude.

And I have to admit…

She looks like she has stories.

She looks like the kind of woman who would tell you, “Don't worry, I've got it,” and somehow everything would actually work out.

Why Are We So Obsessed With the Past?

I think that's what makes this trend so fascinating.

We're not simply recreating old photographs. We're getting a chance to imagine ourselves in another generation.

What would my style have been?

Would I have been the girl with the biggest hair at the party?

Would I have worn neon everything?

Would I have had a closet full of bold African prints mixed with Western ’80s fashion?

Would I have been the sophisticated woman in a power suit?

Or would I have been somewhere in the middle, wearing oversized glasses and pretending I wasn't obsessed with every new hairstyle that came out? 😂

AI gives us the opportunity to play with those possibilities.

And somehow, seeing yourself in another era makes you appreciate how much fashion and society has changed.

The ’80s Were NOT Afraid of Personality

One thing I absolutely love about ’80s fashion is the confidence.

Today, we often talk about "quiet luxury," minimalism and understated elegance.

The ’80s said:

“Quiet? Absolutely not.” 😂

Give me the bright blazer.

Give me the dramatic earrings.

Give me the glossy lips.

Give me the teased hair.

Give me the color.

Give me the shoulder pads.

And while we're at it, turn the music UP!

There was something incredibly expressive about the decade. Fashion wasn't just about looking good; it was about being seen.

And I think that's one reason this trend has become so much fun.

The woman looking back at me from that picture still feels like me.

Just with significantly more hair. 😂

Would I Actually Dress Like This?

Now that's the real question.

Would I walk outside today wearing that entire outfit?

Probably not. lol

Would I steal certain elements?

Absolutely.

Give me the statement earrings.

Give me the beautiful bold makeup.

Give me the confidence.

Give me the dramatic hair for a special occasion.

And honestly, I wouldn't mind bringing back a little more color into my wardrobe.

Because maybe that's the lesson hidden underneath all these nostalgic trends.

We don't have to recreate the past exactly.

We can borrow the best parts of it.

Take the confidence from the ’80s.

The elegance from the ’90s.

The creativity from the ’70s.

The freedom of today.

And create something that is uniquely ours.

That's what I love about this trend.

It makes you curious.

What would you have looked like at 20?

What hairstyle would you have had?

What would your fashion have said about you?

Would you have been glamorous, edgy, sporty, sophisticated, rebellious—or a little bit of everything?

Because sometimes looking at an imagined version of ourselves from another era isn't really about the clothes.

It's about asking:

“Who would I have been?”

And perhaps the most beautiful part is realizing that, regardless of the decade, you would still be you.

Just with a different hairstyle. 😉

My verdict?

The ’80s version of me can stay.

She's fabulous.

She's confident.

She's colorful.

And apparently, she has absolutely no plans of shrinking herself to fit in.

And honestly?
